Picture for caption competition..

Caption This!

Heath Robinson’s Weekend All-Weather Tandem makes family excursions possible. Equipped with a horn, twin umbrellas and anti-lock braking system, it can cope with every eventuality. We’re running a competition to caption this picture. Send us your best idea for a chance to win a Very Heath Robinson De Luxe Edition.

We are running this caption competition in association with the Wimborne Literary Festival and its organizers, Gullivers Bookshop. On Saturday 19th May Adam Hart-Davis will be in Wimborne telling the stories that lay behind some of Heath Robinson’s most absurdly ingenious ideas, among them the Weekend All-Weather Tandem, and we thought, what better way to celebrate ingenuity than by writing a clever caption? Can you match Ian Hislop or Paul Merton or indeed Heath Robinson himself? Pitch in and try your luck.

The judges are Adam Hart-Davis, author of Very Heath Robinson, Kelly Webb, Mayor of Wimborne, and Malcolm Angel, Director of the Wimborne Literary Festival.

Prize worth £150

The best caption will win a copy of the Very Heath Robinson De Luxe Edition. Bound in Cherry Red cloth and preserved in a birch case secured Heath Robinson-style with knotted string, it is No. 20 of a limited edition signed and numbered by the author and on sale at £150.00. For the full details, see Boxed Up and Very Heath Robinson De Luxe Edition.

You don’t have to be in Dorset to participate in the competition. You can enter by downloading and completing the form at the end of this article and sending it by post or email to Gullivers Bookshop at the addresses given in the form.

Closing date

The competition closes at midnight on Thursday 17th May 2018. The winner will be announced by Adam Hart-Davis during his talk in Wimborne on Saturday 19th May and will be contacted by telephone or email.

Adam Hart-Davis will be speaking at Allendale House in Wimborne on Saturday 19th May at 4 p.m. Tickets cost £6.00 and are available from Gullivers Bookshop. Call Gullivers on 01202 882677 or email ku.oc1716768343.pohs1716768343koobs1716768343revil1716768343lug@o1716768343fni1716768343.
